Durham Castle Wedding Photography: Siobhán and Dan

What they say: Ed is without doubt the most amazing photographer. Everything has just been seemingly effortless. He captured our day brilliantly and all our photos are absolutely breathtaking. He caught moments when no one knew he was even around! He genuinely showed our day in all its splendour.

Edward Ashley Photography will always be held in the highest regard to us both, and I will continue to promote them to anyone getting married in the future as my husband and I had such a positive experience. If you are newly engaged and are confused as to who to book for your big day then I couldn't recommend Ed more.

An absolute gent and professional all rolled into one. We will be forever grateful for your stunning natural photos of our day.

Siobhán and Dan's Durham Castle Wedding was a very special and day full of love, happiness, emotion, and dancing. Siobhán and Dan have a lot of friends and Siobhán comes from a big family - so this was one big party!

Having a wedding at Durham Castle is fantastic for photographs - the castle and its grounds provide stunning backdrops, the riverside is really close, and the city centre of Durham is on the doorstep.

On the morning of the wedding, Siobhán had her bridal prep in one of the grand rooms at Durham Castle with her bridesmaids and her mum. Dan got ready at home with his best man, before he went to his local village pub. Here, he met a lot of the wedding guests, before they all headed to the Durham Castle wedding ceremony.

I absolutely loved capturing Dan's reaction as Siobhán walked down the aisle with her dad. This was such a special moment and you could clearly see how much it meant to them both to be getting married.

Siobhán and Dan's day featured a lot of live music. A string quartet played during the ceremony and drinks reception (North East Soiree Quartet), which worked really well given the castle setting. After their wedding breakfast, a guitarist and singer performed in the bar, which added to the atmosphere (Booty and the Beard Band). Finally, to help everyone party the night away, The Emerald Thieves Band provided entertainment on the night.

This was such a special wedding day celebrating the marriage of two lovely people, who are clearly loved very much by their family and friends. It was a real pleasure to be Siobhán and Dan's Durham Castle wedding photographer, to capture their day for them, and to take wedding photographs in such a beautiful setting!
