As a wedding photographer, you pick up on wedding guests smiling as they notice the little details that brides and grooms have put a lot of thought and effort into.
Perhaps one of the bigger details is the wedding cake!
While I can’t remember a wedding I’ve ever been at where I haven’t been blown away by the wedding cake, there are a few that have stood out for me. So what is the best wedding cake?
#1: The traditional wedding cake
Sometimes you just can’t beat the traditional wedding cake, right? Simon and Julie had gorgeous, moist fruit cake perfectly iced in seamless white, finished beautifully with a bow. It matched the style of their Jesmond Dene House wedding perfectly.
#2: The pork pie wedding cake
Yes, really! Is this the best thing you’ve ever heard of?? Emma and Dan decided they wanted to share their love of pork pies with all their nearest and dearest by having a pork pie wedding cake. This went down an absolute treat on the day at their Wynyard Golf Club wedding, as all their guests were treated to some delicious pastry and tasty meat!
#3: The individual wedding cupcakes
Gill and Kev thought they’d provide individual wedding cupcakes (along with some delicious cake pops!) for their guests at their As You Like It wedding.
#4: The meaningful wedding cake theme
Sara and Steve met through a mutual love of archery, so what better type of cake for them to have than an archery-themed wedding cake work of art? This cake was actually made by the bride’s very talented sister.
#5: The Caterpillar Wedding Cakes: Connie and Colin!
I love how fun, playful, and romantic these are! The happy couple also provided a selection of miniature Connie and Colin wedding cakes for their guests!
